Visit to the China National Association of Engineering Consultants on 31 October 2014 in in Beijing
I went to Beijing on 31 October 2014 to meet the President and Council members of the China National Association of Engineering Consultants to follow up on our first meeting on 30 November 2012. In the meeting, we agreed that the Association and our Division would hold a joint Forum in Beijing in the third quarter of 2015 and at the same time sign a Co-operation Agreement in order to strengthen our co-operation and exchange views between the Association and our Division.
Mainland Affairs Committee CEPA delegation Visit to Beijing from 2 to 5 November 2014
I was part of the delegation to Beijing. On the morning of 3 November, we visited the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the China Engineering Cost Association, the China Association of Engineering Consultants, the China Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and Agents and the China Property Management Institute. In the afternoon, we visited the Ministry of Commerce. During the meeting with Ministry of Commerce, I reported that our Division had successfully collaborated with Shanghai Tongji University to start a Bachelor Degree Course in Planning and Development in March 2014 and also successfully liaised with the China National Association of Engineering Consultants to hold a joint forum in Beijing in the third quarter of 2015 in order to further strengthen our co-operation.
On the morning of 4 November, we visited the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Land and Resources and in the afternoon the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors Beijing Office. In the evening, the delegation attended a members’ dinner organised by the HKIS Beijing Office.
The main objectives of the visit were to foster professional knowledge exchange and explore further co-operation opportunities so as to enhance the development of the surveying profession between Hong Kong and Mainland China.
Mainland and Hong Kong Construction Industry Forum in Nanning, Guangxi from 9 to 11 November, 2014
I joined the HKIS delegation to attend this Forum. The Forum was organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the HKSAR Development Bureau. The main theme of the Forum was to focus on new technology, advanced management and to explore the opportunities to secure construction-related works outside China.
Planning & Development Division Annual Dinner on 13 November, 2014
We held our Annual Dinner from 6:30 to 10:00 pm on 13 November at the World Trade Centre Club on 38/F, World Trade Centre, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The dinner was very successful with over 70 guests and members. Our guests, both from Hong Kong and Mainland China,included Mr K K Ling JP, Director of Planning, Mr Edwin Chan, Assistant Director of Lands Department, Mr Yu Kwok Hung, Assistant Director, Buildings Department, Dr Zhang Guo Chun, Secretary-General, Mr Yang Feng, Mr Shi Lian Hui from the China Appraisal Society and most of our HKIS General Council members including our President, Sr Simon Kwok, our Vice- President, Sr Edward Au and our Immediate Past President, Sr Stephen Lai, etc.
CPD-Railway and Property Model-MTR Experience in Hong Kong and Mainland from 7:00 to 8:30pm on 1 December 2014 in the Surveyor Learning Centre
