On 27 August 2014, the PDD held a CPD in the Surveyors Learning Centre. The speaker was Ms Johanna Cheng, Senior Town Planner, Planning Department, and the topic was “Planning Law and Practices in Hong Kong”. Over 170 participants attended.

The PDD representatives will join the HKIS Mainland Affairs Committee on a trip to Beijing from 2-5 November 2014 regarding CEPA. We plan to meet representatives of the China National Association of Engineering Consultants to discuss future cooperation between our two organisations since we first met in 2012.

The PDD will also send a representative to the 2014 Mainland and Hong Kong Construction Industry Forum in Nanning, Guangxi, from 9-11 November 2014.

Bachelor of Arts (Urban Studies) HKU External Examiner’s Visit on 8 September 2014

Prof Philip Allmendinger, Department of Land Economy, Cambridge University, UK, and Sr Edwin CL Tsang of the HKIS were invited by the Department of Urban Planning & Design (DUPAD), University of Hong Kong, for an official visit to advise on the course on 8 September 2014. A report of the visit is being prepared.

Please remember that the PDD will hold its annual conference from 9 AM to 1 PM on 18 October 2014 in the HKIS Surveyors Learning Centre. The topic is “Review of Strategies for Planning of Development Space and Renewal” and the speakers will be Mr KK Ling, JP, Director of Planning; Sr Victor So, JP, Chairman, Urban Renewal Authority; Mr KL Wong, CEO and Executive Director, Hong Kong Housing Society; and Sr PC Lau, SBS, Chairman, Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services. All members are welcome to join.

In addition, the PDD will hold its annual dinner from 6:30 to 10 PM on 13 November 2014 on the 38/F, World Trade Centre Club, Causeway Bay. All members and guests are welcome to join.
