Property and Facility Management Division Conference 2011
In view of the beginning of worldwide corporations to manage their corporate real estate strategically to gain greater value, our Conference this year will focus discussion in this area and the topic has been finalized by the Organizing Committee as "Corporate Real Estate – Value Enhancement or Business Support?". It will be held on 3 December, 2011 (Saturday) at Harbour Grand Kowloon, 20 Tak Fung Street, Whampoa Garden, Hunghom, Kowloon.

The Conference is organized to promote excellent practices among practitioners on the property and facility management field as well as to provide a platform for the professionals, academia and practitioners to share their valuable experiences and insights on the value orientation of the corporate real estate industry.

This year, we are privileged to have Ms Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet Ngor, GBS, JP, Secretary for Development of the Hong Kong SAR Government, as our keynote speaker. Furthermore, Mr Freddy LEE from Shui On Land Limited, Professor CHAU Kwong Wing from The University of Hong Kong, Ms Susan LIM from DEGW Asia and Ir Edmund LEUNG Kwong Ho from Hsin Chong Construction Group Limited have already accepted our invitations to deliver a presentation to mark this important event. It will be a valuable opportunity for fellow members to exchange your views in issues relating to Corporate Real Estate. Recognition of Prior Learning for the Property Management industry
Members may be aware of that the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism for the Property Management industry was officially launched on 15 March 2011. The information set out below was summarized with the kind assistance of Mr Tony Tse, our surveyor member in the Real Estate Services Training Board of the Vocational Training Council for members' information. He is also a member of the Property Management Industry Training Advisary Committee.

Benefits of RPL to industry practitioners
- Formal recognition of the Knowledge, Skills and Experience acquired by employees
- Help determine a starting point for further training and progression
- Reduce duplication in training for the same skills

Value of RPL qualifications
- RPL qualification is QF-recognized
- Widely accepted by the industry
- Education & Training providers will provide articulated program for the RPL qualification holders
- Preferred qualifications for employment by employers

Criteria for Recognition
- Benchmarked against the Specification of Competency Standards (SCS) developed by the industry
- Years of relevant working experience

RPL Qualifications available for Application in the following areas of work
- Security Operational Work Gardening Work
- Cleaning Work Building,
- Repair and Maintenance Customer Service
- Leasing Administrative Work
- Club House Service

Government support — Reimbursement of RPL Assessment Fees
To encourage RPL qualification holders to pursue for their education and training, the Education Bureau will provide a financial subsidy on reimbursement of the assessment fees as follows:
Step 1. Successfully obtain a RPL qualification
Step 2. Apply for 75% Reimbursement of assessment fees
Step 3. Complete a QF-recognized programme.
Step 4. Apply for the rest 25% reimbursement of assessment fees
