Membership
Members have been told many times in this column that the LSD can only accept new corporate members if they have passed the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). To offer corporate membership to any internationally renowned land surveying scholar or high-calibre government official, the HKIS would need to amend its Constitution. In fact, its administration has tried to do this, but has not yet received sufficient support from its members. It sees the APC as a necessary threshold mechanism for upholding the professional standards for admission.
